SwifTXT is a dynamic company delivering innovation mobile solutions, using leading edge technologies. Founded in 2001 by a team which harnesses a wealth of expertise in logistics, wireless & internet technologies and research & development. SwifTXT subsequently established a strategic research alliance with University College Dublin (UCD), ensuring the latest technologies are encompassed in the product range.

The Team:

Fred Hanna - CEO / Founder

Fred has worked in many industries. In 1993 he joined the family book business in Ireland, Fred Hanna's Bookstores. During this time he was responsible for the management of personnel. Fred also set-up and developed the Fred Hanna online book operations. This involved managing, designing, marketing and generating business around the world. The web site won many awards, including the runner up prize to the Irish Times Newspaper for 'Top Commercial Web Site of the Year' award. The Web site was hugely successful selling books to over 60 countries around the world and was profitable within its first six months of business. Fred was also part of the management team that headed the sale of the business in 1998/9.

In 2001 Fred established SwifTXT to eliminate the so called 'Last Mile' delivery problem with the global logistics sector. The solution enables delivery companies around the world to deliver parcels to residential addresses - first time, every time! By eliminating any possible failed attempt, SwifTXT bring great value to their customers. SwifTXT hold a PCT (Patent Cooperation Treaty) in 125 countries around the world and are currently deploying their technology into some of the largest logistic companies in Europe.

In 2003, Fred was presented with the inaugural 'David Manley Emerging Business Award' as a leading Entrepreneur in Ireland.

Hugh Larkin - Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

Hugh joined SwifTXT in 2001 and has been a key player in creating it's core technologies. Prior to joining SwifTXT, Hugh worked in a number of I.T. security companies both in Australia and Ireland. While in Australia, he was a product architect and team lead for a Nationwide Smartcard PKI programme which was granted approval by the Ministry of Defence.

Hugh received a first-class honours degree Computer Science from Dublin City University as well as having the honour of graduating top of his year.

Hugh Claffey - Director

Hugh is a mechanical engineer with a masters in Engineering Design from UCD. He has held senior management level positions in the multi-national electronics sector, working for Digital Equipment and Intel, both in Ireland and the US.

George G. Mellios - Vice President, Sales & Marketing

George G. Mellios is a recognized leader in marketing, logistics, distribution operations. Mr. Mellios has been in the field of distribution since 1970. His contributions and experience span transportation, chemicals, pharmaceutical, consumer products, and personal computers. He is credited with establishing the standard of same day (within 24 hours) shipping in the personal computer industry; and also created three fully-integrated logistics organizations/systems for major manufacturers and retailers.

He has also consulted to a wide array of clients in the area marketing of logistics. They include the North Texas Commission, Kane Distribution/City of Scranton, Rubbermaid, Mail Boxes Etc., Promus Hotels, Universal Home Video, and Active International. His expertise spans the entire supply chain and includes structured trade finance.

He received his undergraduate degree in business administration and economics from Transylvania College, Lexington, Kentucky, and an MBA in marketing and physical distribution from Michigan State University.

Harold Beane, Jr. – VP of Music & Entertainment

Harold brings the talents of the music industry, sports, and celebrity marketing to the SwifTXT, Corp management team. He has proven his marketing abilities through his past experiences. His knowledge of music, artists, and production was demonstrated while operating Verbally Toxic Studios. He developed artist’s records and the distribution of their music. Harold has also engineered albums and negotiated recording contracts for artists with various music labels.

Harold was a football player throughout his college career and in the NFL playing as a defensive tackle and defensive end. His college team was the University of Memphis and his professional experience was with the Atlanta Falcons.

Harold holds a degree from University of Memphis with majors in Business Administration and Marketing. He is listed in Who’s Who in America, was MVP Football at U of Memphis and Atlanta Falcons Camp. Harold is active in Boys Club of America, Miami, FL and Jr. Executive Member of Tower Club, Ft Lauderdale, FL.

Norman Ebbs - Business Development Director

Norman has extensive experience in project and programme management, initially gained through Bank of Ireland where he held a number of executive positions, most notably as Head of Information Systems, and Head of Programme Management. Norman spent a number of years in the UK working for a specialist project and programme management company; through this he gained experience working at board level across a wide range of sectors including financial services, retail, manufacturing, telecoms, healthcare and government.

Stephen Molloy - Development

Stephen graduated from DCU in 2002 with First Class Honours Degree in Computer Applications.

He gained valuable work experience with Baltimore Technologies in 2001, before moving to IBM as a Software Engineer. He began work with SwifTXT in January 2004.

Marco Pasotti - European Sales Director

Marco is an electronic engineer and started to work in 1983 in his family company, Lirma Srl, in Milano, production and distribution of mailing machines. In a few years Marco was managing all the activities from production to marketing and sales of mailing and document systems, and in 1998 he managed the sale of the company to Neopost group.

For 5 years Marco was the Managing Director of the Italian Neopost subsidiary. He doubled the customer base (over 12000) tripled the number of dealers (30) and quadrupled the turnover up to 10 Millions Euro, thanks also to the acquisitions of 2 competitors. He had the opportunity to manage the "Euro Migration" of the biggest franking machines installed base in Italy, with about 40% of market share.

Marco was the contact for relations with Poste Italiane management and he won hundreds of bids with Poste Italiane and many other Public Administrations.

Josephine Eviston - Operations Director

Josephine Eviston combines 20 years of IT, Logistics, operations and general management experience. With a background in Information Technology Josephine entered the logistics industry by joining Irish Express Cargo as I.T. Manager in 1987 and subsequently becoming IT Director. Josephine took over as Chief Operations Officer of Irish Express Cargo for the post acquisition transition period when acquired by Flextronics in 2000. Josephine now operates her own IT & Logistics consultancy & project management company Technogistics.

G.M.P. O'Hare - R&D Director

Gregory O'Hare is the Head of Department of Computer Science at University College Dublin(UCD). Prior to this he was a member of faculty at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST).

He is director of the PRISM (Practice and Research in Intelligent Systems & Media) Laboratory within the Department of Computer Science. His research focuses upon Multi-Agent Systems (MAS) and Mobile and Ubiquitous computing. He has published some 85 journal and conference papers in these areas together with two text books.

Gregory has secured some 2.5 Million euro research funding for research conducted in the PRISM laboratory and has acted as consultant for many national and international companies and organisations.
